OVERVIEW OF THE TOUR
Day 1 (Dinner)Leaving behind Adelaide's busy streets, we'll weave through the famous wine region of Adelaide Hills enroute to the entrance of the sprawling Grampians National Park. Accompanied by emus and kangaroos as we drive through the Grampians, we'll soon come to the spectacular MacKenzie Falls, which are some of the largest and most beautiful found in Victoria. After a hike around the base of the falls, we'll wander the rocky outcrops to The Balconies, a series of striking rock formations that offer vantage points across the distant mountain range. Listening to the sounds of cockatoos and kookaburras, we'll also visit the Boroka Lookout as the last light slowly disappears beyond the surrounding hillsides. Staying deep within the Grampians, we'll be sleeping in cosy dormitory-style accommodations.
Day 2 (Breakfast)After rising early to enjoy breakfast, we'll take a two-hour hike to the Grampians' premier viewpoint – appropriately named The Pinnacle. Basking in lush bushland scenery, we'll take time to appreciate the spectacular scenery from our lookout point above the national park. Our stop for lunch is bound to impress as the Tower Hill Conservation Reserve sits atop a dormant volcano that features stunning wetlands and a diverse ecosystem that’s alive with native Australian wildlife.
We'll spend the afternoon relaxing in the seaside town of Warrnambool, where you can enjoy a dinner at a local restaurant (own expense). Experiencing another brilliant sunset, we'll roam the coastal boardwalks before sleeping in dormitory-style accommodation along the Great Ocean Road.
Day 3 (Breakfast)We'll launch into our final day with a cruise the Great Ocean Road where we'll make several stops along the way at a remarkable range of sights, including London Bridge and Loch Ard Gorge. We'll then continue on with a splendid nature walk through the cool temperate rainforests of the Great Otway National Park. As we drive along some of the most outstanding coastal roads in Australia, we'll take a lunch break to explore the charming beachside town of Apollo Bay. After lunch, we'll continue our drive with more stops including Memorial Arch. Be sure to keep an eye out for world-class surfers carving up the waves at the acclaimed Bells Beach and Torquay.
Bringing our three-day adventure to a conclusion, we'll arrive in the big city of Melbourne by approximately 5:30pm.
