Hunter Valley is one of Australia’s best wine regions and produces some of the best Semillon wine.

Three hours out of Sydney and find yourself in the famous Hunter Valley wine region. Whether you’re booking a tour or driving to the wineries, it’s highly recommended to book in advance.

Booking gives you peace of mind knowing your wine tasting is. The same goes when booking a winery tour, but seats are quickly booked out, so we recommend getting in early!

Though if you don’t book when visiting a cellar door, some wineries do allow walk ins, so you can take your chance!

How can I get around Hunter Valley?

You can either drive yourself around Hunter Valley or you can book a tour.

Driving yourself gives you the chance to pick your own wineries to visit for the tastings. But drinking and driving isn’t the best match. If you decide to drive yourself, we recommend spitting out the wines to be able to still drive responsibility. You will still be able to get the taste of the wine after spitting.

Booking a tour gives you the peace of mind of being able to drink without worrying to drive. The tour also preselects wineries to visit, so you won’t need to decide for yourself which ones to go to.

There are other options to get around Hunter Valley like riding a bicycle or going in a carriage.

What tours can I book?

Wine tours give you a unique experience getting driven around Hunter Valley. You get taken to different boutique wineries to try the local wines. There is a selection of wine tours you can book, but with so many to choose from, here are two unique tours.

Focus on boutique wineries and have an intimate feel at the Boutique Hunter Valley Wine Tour. On the boutique tour, you will go to three different wineries for tastings, try other local produce, and also get a delicious cafe lunch!

Or you can visit three unique wineries and get a taste of some cheese at the Hunter Valley Wine and Cheese Tasting Tour. You’ll try about 20 different wines across the three wineries, have a tasty lunch, and have free time to sample some local cheese.
