Barossa Valley
One of the best wine regions in Australia, The Barossa Valley is about an hour’s drive out from Adelaide. There are about 150 wineries to choose from in Barossa Valley. They all offer their personal best wine and some award-winning wines! The best way to go to the Barossa to try wines is through a tour. Booking a winery tour allows you to drink and not worry about driving. The tours take you to some of the best wineries in the Barossa Valley. You also get to visit the Whispering Wall and have a delicious lunch.
Hahndorf
Hahndorf is a German town in the Adelaide Hills. It is only half an hour’s drive from the city. This German town has maintained its heritage since 1839. Then since 1847, the Holmes family has been running the town. Visitors love going down to Hahndorf as it is a great way to spend a day exploring. You can go to cafes and restaurants for traditional Bavarian food and drinks. Or you could do strawberry picking, see some wildlife, or visit a few more wineries.
Clare Valley
Just under a two-hour drive, Clare Valley is one of Australia’s oldest wine regions. There are over 40 cellar doors and wineries in the area. These wineries have some of the best wines to offer. People will either make a day trip out here to experience Clare Valley and its wineries. Or they do a little getaway trip for a few days. This allows them to properly explore Clare Valley and what it has to offer.
Kangaroo Island
We have snuck this one in because how couldn’t we? It is a little over two hours though. It takes an hour and a half drive to get to the ferry, then just over an hour ride on the ferry. So, in total under three hours to get to the island. But Kangaroo Island has so much to do starting with spotting Australian wildlife. Or you can walk along the beach, have incredible food, or visit some wineries. Kangaroo Island is one of Australia’s best getaways. It is so close to Adelaide, so it’s worth visiting for a mini holiday.
