Melbourne rightfully holds the title of Australia’s cultural capital, with a dizzying array of arts, music and sporting events dotting the annual calendar.

Not only this, it’s a city of attractions, with everything from Queen Victoria Market to the Melbourne Skydeck and the National Gallery of Victoria all providing super exciting experiences year round!

To put it simply, yes! Melbourne’s attractions are open, and plenty of them, too. It’s a fair question, given Melbourne’s unfortunate reputation for having the world’s longest pandemic lockdown, but you’ll be stoked to know that things are back in (near) full swing and our top attractions are awaiting your amazement.

These are just a select few of the awesome experiences that await you in Melbourne, Australia’s culture capital:

The Queen Victoria Market

The Vic Market has been going strong for nearly 150 years, and it’s an amazing place to not only grab all your produce and a few trinkets, but also an awesome historical site that is a joy to meander around.

The market is open every day except Monday and Wednesday, and you can expect to find some 600 stalls selling everything from fresh food to artisanal gifts, healthy goods and souvenirs (just to name a few!).

The National Gallery of Victoria

The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is one of Australia’s preeminent galleries. Not only does it house permanent collections from some of Australia and the world’s great artists but it also hosts summer and winter exhibitions from history’s greats.

Not only this, the NGV is famous for hosting the legendary NGV Summer Nights program, a rotating roster of food, drink, music and dancing in tribute to its summer showcase!

The Melbourne Skydeck

Did you know you could get your heart-pumping thrills in the heart of Melbourne? Well, you certainly can, but we warn you: it’s not for the faint of heart.

The Melbourne Skydeck is the Southern Hemisphere’s highest observation deck, and if that wasn’t thrilling enough, the deck is complete with a glass bottom floor staring directly down the massive 297 metres to the ground floor.

Maybe not for the jelly-legged, but an adrenaline-pumping experience for those who can hack it!

The gardens

Melbourne is a city of many beautiful gardens, from Fitzroy to St Kilda and the ever-lush Botanical Gardens. They’re most certainly open, and they are absolutely wonderful…
