One of the best places to visit in Victoria during the winter months is Mansfield. One main reason is because of the snow!
Mansfield is located near the mountains and is one of the most visited towns near Mount Buller. There’s nothing like a cosy mountain town with a backdrop of white mountain peaks.
So we know that it snows in Mansfield, but what is there to do?
Hit the slopes
Mansfield is the gateway to all the fun winter activities. Head up Mount Buller and spend the day on the slopes. There are heaps of runs for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy. From beginner to expert level, Mount Buller doesn’t run short on ski runs.
Other snow activities
You don’t have to ski and snowboard to enjoy time in the mountains. There are plenty of other activities to enjoy. These activities include tobogganing, snow-shoeing or simply building a snowman.
Toboggans are available for at the designated toboggan park. You’ll have to purchase a toboggan pass for $15, and then the park is all yours to enjoy!
If you decide to hire show-shoes or bring your own, there are heaps of paths to choose from. Enjoy a gorgeous stroll through the alpine forest in the snow. This is also a great way to take in the sunset!
Eat and drink
Mansfield is dotted with lots of tasty restaurants and cafes.
Bertallis Mansfield Bakery is known for its pie. There are plenty of options to satisfy any craving. If you’re not in the mood for a pie, grab a sweet pastry or a yummy sausage roll!
Mansfield Coffee Merchant is your one stop shop for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This popular coffee shop can sometimes have a bit of a wait, but it is definitely worth it.
The Mansfield Hotel is a great place to go for a beer and some classic pub food. It also has a bottle shop and tasty wood-fired pizzas.

Did you forget your snow gear? Mansfield is where you can hire equipment before visiting Mount Buller. There are plenty of places to hire skis, snowboards and even a winter jacket.
Perhaps you have the gear you need but you want to buy some warm clothing. There are also shops that sell anything you might need for your time on the mountain. You can also grab a souvenir to remember your time in the gorgeous snowy mountains.
