Nestled in the stunning Blue Mountains in New South Wales is the awesome Scenic World.

Established in 1945, Scenic World was born from an entrepreneur’s idea to transform an abandoned coal mine into a top tourist attraction. Using the existing coal skips and rail tracks, he turned the railway into a passenger train, making what was and still is, the steepest passenger train in the world. Today, the attraction is still owned and operated by the descendants of the original ideas man Harry Hammon.

Scenic World is the perfect place to soak in the beautiful sights of the Blue Mountains. With four unique and exclusive viewing experiences, Scenic World is the perfect addition to your day in the bush!

Scenic Railway

Where it all began, the Scenic Railway. Ride down the world’s steepest railway and through the beautiful bush surrounding the rail. Passengers can choose their thrill, with adjustable seating positions to increase your angle.

The railway sits on an impressive 52-degree incline, but daredevil riders can increase it to a whopping 64-degrees. The railway still uses the original tracks built in the 19th century!

Though its journey is truly scenic, the railway got its name from the early amusement rides in England, where passengers would ride past ‘exotic’ painted scenes from around the world.

Scenic Skyway

Glide between the clifftops in the stunning Scenic Skyway. The 720-metre journey gives stunning panoramic views of the Three Sisters, Jamison Valley and Katoomba Falls. The 10-minute ride sails 270 metres above deep ravines, treating you to stunning birds-eye views of the rainforest canopies below.

Adventurous riders can stand on the glass bottom floors, for the ultimate views. Those a bit timid can choose to enjoy the seating on solid flooring. Once you’ve disembarked you’re perfectly situated to enjoy the Prince Henry Cliff Walk, including stunning lookouts over Echo Point and the Three Sisters.

Scenic Walkway

Keep your feet firmly on the ground and explore the rainforest at your own pace on the Scenic Walkway. The two-and-a-half-kilometre trail winds through the rainforest, as you enjoy the magnificent native flora and fauna. The elevated boardwalk means you’re more likely to catch a glimpse of the local animals scurrying along the forest floor.

The walkway immerses you into the rainforest while having minimal impact on the surrounding environment. Plus, if you don’t have time to walk the whole loop, there are plenty of shortcuts and ten-minute walks for you to enjoy instead!

Scenic Cableway

Slowly descend into the Jamison Valley on the Scenic Cableway. The fully-enclosed cabin drops you into the World Heritage rainforest. The Scenic Cableway is the perfect way to see Orphan Rock and Mt Solidarity.

The cableway just barely grazes past sandstone cliffs, giving you a unique opportunity to see the incredible geology up close. The cable car is the steepest in the Southern Hemisphere and a truly unique way to see the region.

Scenic World in the Blue Mountains truly lives up to its name. With four awesome attractions and unbelievable scenery, Scenic World is an absolute must-see on your Blue Mountains trip.
