OVERVIEW OF THE TOUR

The 135-million-year-old rainforest of the Cape Tribulation section of the Daintree is the most ancient and primitive in the world. Many species originated when Australia was part of Gondwana, more than 120 million years ago. Although Australia contains less than one-thousandth of the world's tropical rainforests, these forests are some of the most significant ecosystems on the planet. These rainforests have been inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1988 in recognition of their universal natural values as:

an outstanding example of the major stages in the earth's evolutionary history
an outstanding example of significant ongoing ecological and biological processes
an example of superlative natural phenomena
counting important significant habitats for conversation of biological diversity

On this full-day tour, you will discover the beautiful Daintree Rainforest. The remote natural magnificence of Cape Tribulation and the Daintree Rainforest is far from the glitz of civilization and brings both awe and peace, a true solace to the soul. We start your adventuer in Cairns at 8am with a pick up and embark on a scenic journey along Australia's stunning northern coast. Our first stop is the picturesque Mossman Gorge, where you'll have the chance to explore the lush rainforest and enjoy a refreshing swim in the cool waters. Following a delightful morning team, we'll cross the Daintree River via cable ferry and head towards Cape Tribulation. Here, you can wander through the ancient Gondwana Rainforest and take in panoramic views from the Alexandra Range Lookout. Next, we'll visit either the Marrdja or Jindalba Boardwalk, surrounded by towering ancient trees and vibrant mangrove swamps. For lunch, savour a picnic on the pristine sands of Cape Tribulation Beach. Afterwards, take a leisurely stroll along the shoreline and discover the unique convergence of rainforest and reef. We'll then return to the Daintree River, enjoying more spectacular scenery along the way. In the afternoon, embark on an exciting crocodile spotting cruise along the Daintree River estuary. Keep an eye out for these majestic reptiles along with pythons, butterflies and other native wildlife. Our journey concludes with a stop at the Rex Range Lookout, before heading back to Cairns for the end of the tour.

Due to the recent flooding and road closures caused by Cyclone Jasper, we’ve adjusted our itineraries to ensure you still experience the best of Mossman Gorge, the Daintree River, and the Daintree Rainforest. Despite these changes, you’ll enjoy a scenic coastal drive, morning tea, and a wildlife spotting cruise on the Daintree River. Access to Alexandra Lookout is subject to availability. The itinerary includes a picnic lunch, with the option to bring your own. We’ll also visit the Daintree Ice-Cream Co., Mossman Gorge, enjoy a guided rainforest walk, and stop at Rex Lookout (near Port Douglas).
