The three sisters are iconic to the Blue Mountains. They are a trio of rocks that are easily recognisable and iconic not only to New South Wales, but Australia.

The Blue Mountains are located in the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area and are located on Echo Point Road in Katoomba. This unique rock formation offers a one-of-a-kind view of the whole Jamison Valley.

Getting to the Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains are approximately 60km away from the city of Sydney’s CBD. The drive is smooth, and the blue-hazed wilderness welcomes hikers, photographers and nature lovers alike. Don’t forget your camera!

The most travelled route is the M4 from Sydney. Take the west exits, and you’ll start seeing mountainous scenery. From Sydney, the drive is about 90 minutes long.

Or you can travel by public transport. If you’re taking public transport, then it’s easy to get the train from Central Station.

How to view the Three Sisters

So, what’s the best way to see the Three Sisters? Take a hike along the Three Sisters Walk. The walking track is packed full of different lookout points which each offer a great and varying view of the Three Sisters.

Getting to the Three Sisters? Go to the Echo Point Visitor Centre in Katoomba. There is parking here and you can easily walk from the car park to the viewpoint if you’re feeling like stretching your legs. The walk itself is just under a kilometre, and it’s very easy! It takes between 30-45 minutes to complete – but of course, allow extra time to soak up the gorgeous views!

It is a place of great spiritual significance for the traditional custodians of the area – the Gundungurra and Darung People have lived here
