Barron Gorge National Park

Situated just outside of Cairns, the Barron Gorge National Park is part of the broader Wet Tropics World Heritage Area.

The gorge formed as the Barron River passed over the eastern escarpment of the Atherton Tablelands. The Barron Falls crash into the gorge below, creating quite the magnificent sight. The park extends from the coastal lowlands all the way to the escarpment, a magnificent view.

With over twelve hundred species of plants and eight hundred types of rainforest trees, the park is a magnificent display of native Australian flora and fauna.

Scenic Railway

The famous Kuranda Scenic Railway runs through this incredible part of Australia. Running along it’s original tracks, the Kuranda Scenic Railway moves from sea level to 382m up, passing by spectacular waterfalls and through the beautiful Barron Gorge.

Kuranda
