If you keep your eyes towards the forest floor, you may be able to spot an echidna. If you look up towards the treetops, you’ll be able to spot lots of colourful birds and butterflies. If you cross the Daintree River, there’s a good chance that you will see some crocodiles
That is just a small amount of the wildlife you can see in the Daintree Rainforest. There are plenty more critters to discover!
Go for a Swim
Though you can’t go swimming along the coast or in the Daintree River, there are some great swimming spots in the rainforest. Some perks to visiting these swimming holes are that they are full of freshwater and are less crowded.
One of the most popular swimming holes in the Daintree Rainforest is Mossman Gorge. This swimming hole is secluded and surrounded by nature. When you’re not swimming you can enjoy a picnic, watch the colourful birds and soak up the tranquil surroundings.
Another popular swimming hole is Cassowary Falls. This swimming hole is formed at the bottom of a gorgeous waterfall. Whether you’re in or out of the water, the flow of the waterfall will create soothing background sounds.
Enjoy Cape Tribulation
Cape Tribulation is found along the coastline of the Daintree Rainforest. It’s a breathtaking place to visit because it is where the rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef. You can enjoy Cape Tribulation by going for a beach stroll, taking a sunset camel ride or just lounging on the beach!
Take a Hike
There are heaps of scenic hiking trails and boardwalks winding through the Daintree Rainforest. They are a perfect way to explore and check out the stunning scenery.
The Marrdja boardwalk is an easy boardwalk that takes around 45 minutes to complete. The boardwalk will lead you across Noah Creek and past various fascinating plants. You may even be able to spot some fish or crabs in the river below.
Another great walk is from Cape Tribulation Beach to Mason’s Swimming Hole. It will take around an hour to complete this hike, but it is well worth it. Once you reach the swimming hole, it’s the perfect place to take a refreshing dip and cool off!
