Overflowing with unique Outback landscapes, biodiverse environments and culturally significant sites, Kakadu National Park is an essential stop on anyone’s trip to Darwin. Explore this incredible wilderness and discover what makes it so special on our 1 Day Kakadu Tour from Darwin.

Starting nice and early, the tour kicks off in Darwin and heads straight to the Adelaide River for the chance to witness some of the Top End’s famous crocodiles in action. Join the optional Jumping Crocodile Cruise (own expense) to observe these apex predators in their natural environment and learn all about their environment from the local guide. Alternatively, head to the Fogg Dam Conservation Centre to discover the traditional lands of the Limilngan-Wulna people and spot some of the numerous bird and animal species that inhabit the area.

As we cross over into Kakadu, we’ll make a stop at the Bowali Visitor Centre and Murrawuddie Gallery to learn about the First Nations peoples of Kakadu and their environment. We’ll enjoy a quick lunch stop before travelling deeper into Kakadu and viewing Cahills Crossing, a notorious crossing point of the East Alligator River known for the croc population and challenging road conditions.

Our final stop of the day is Ubirr Rock, where you can view the ancient Aboriginal rock art on the walls of this former camping spot. Some of these extraordinary examples of Aboriginal drawings date back thousands of years and offer a unique window into the local culture and landscape before the arrival of European settlers. Wander the gallery then climb to the top of the Ubirr Rock for unforgettable views over the Nadab Floodplains. Soak up these amazing views then enjoy the journey back to Darwin.
