Kangaroo Island is picturesque with beautiful beaches, clear blue waters, and lush forests.

One of the best times to visit Kangaroo Island is during summer. The temperature doesn’t get too hot which is ideal for exploring all the stunning beaches and other surrounding areas.

Thankfully the beautiful island has a lot you can do while you’re here for (hopefully) a few days!

Flinders Chase National Park

No matter what, you need to visit Flinders Chase National Park when you’re on Kangaroo Island. You’ll expect to see unique flora and fauna, beaches, heritage sites, and many more. You can spend the day walking through the park and exploring different areas and seeing many attractions. You should also expect to see all sorts of wildlife when walking through Flinders Chase.

Remarkable Rocks

Remarkable they are! Follow the wooden boardwalk down to these fascinating yet weird rocks.

You might be curious how the rocks look the way they do. Well, over 500 million years ago lava solidified and then for about 200 million years, the wind and sea eroded the rocks. The erosion has turned them into what we see today.

A perfect time to see Remarkable Rocks is around sunrise or sunset when the rocks get an added golden glow.

Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park

Spend a few hours and see some of the native wildlife at Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park! You can walk around the park to see all the animals and even interact with a few of them. If you need a hug, you can cuddle a koala, you can feed some kangaroos and wallabies, or have fun with cheeky monkeys.

Seal Bay

Over 500 sea lions call Seal Bay their home! You’ll be able to walk amongst them on the boardwalk. You can watch them as they sunbake on the beach or have fun in the water and splashing around.

Are there tours available?

There are plenty of tours available to explore Kangaroo Island. You’ll be able to spot all the awesome wildlife and see the scenic beauty of the island.

If you’ve only got a day to spare, there is a one day tour of Kangaroo Island. Expect the jampacked day to be full of fun and adventure!

Or if you’ve got a bit longer, spending two days on the island is perfect as it allows you to see more of the beautiful island. This two day tour does all the highlights of Kangaroo Island plus so much more.

Even though we’ve said summer is the best time to visit Kangaroo Island, it’s really a great place to visit all year round. If you come in winter, you might get the chance to see some whales, or in autumn you could be spotting some penguins!
