OVERVIEW OF THE TOUR
Join us to discover one of Tasmania's most loved natural attractions, Russell Falls, on this day tour from Hobart. We'll take in the beautiful scenery of the Derwent Valley as we travel to Mt Field National Park, making a stop at Salmon Ponds on the way. Once arrived at the Mt Field National Park, enjoy an easy 20-minute stroll to the foot of the spectacular Russell Falls, striding through a range of tall fern trees!
Our journey begins in the morning, as we depart Hobart and take in the picturesque valley views and spectacular Tasmanian scenery. As we head north-west to Mt Field National Park, we'll pass by stunning rural landscapes, quaint villages and the hop fields of Bushy Park. On the way, we'll stop at Salmon Ponds, a trout hatchery that has been operating since 1864. Here you can enjoy a complimentary morning tea and try feeding a range of fish including rainbow trout and salmon. Learn more about this historical fish farm at the Trout Fishing Museum and wander the picturesque English style gardens.
Then we'll jump back on the coach to continue the journey to Russell Falls. The rainforest is quite peaceful and presents the perfect opportunity to escape inner-city life, whilst enjoying some of Tasmania's finest scenery for the day. Throughout the park, you will come across a diverse range of scenic features and wildlife (you may even spot a platypus if you're lucky!). Be amazed by the towering swamp gums and tall tree ferns. Once arrived at the falls, take in the impressive views of the water cascading over the tiers of mossy rock amongst the rainforest. We'll enjoy lunch here (at your own expense) for extra time to enjoy the tranquil environment.
Once we've fully appreciated the beauty and serenity of Russell Falls, we'll make our way back to Hobart. During berry season, there may even be the chance to stop and pick up some locally grown raspberries from one of the roadside stalls. For spectacular views of Tasmania, join us as we uncover the beauty of Russell Falls.
