OVERVIEW OF THE TOUR
Whether you are fascinated or frightened by the Top End’s apex predator, you are sure to be amazed by these awe-inspiring creatures on our Morning Jumping Crocodiles Cruise from Darwin. Sit back and enjoy the chance to observe the fearsome reptiles from the safety of the boat, while hearing stacks of astounding facts about the local saltwater crocodile population.
Departing from Darwin, we’ll travel through the Marrakai wetlands to the Adelaide River. Here we’ll join the Spectacular Jumping Crocodile Cruise. This experience is the only Aboriginal-owned cruise company, so you know your fare is supporting the Top End community.
Once onboard, you’ll cruise down the river keep an eye out for local “salties” lurking on the shady riverbanks or keeping cool in the muddy waters. While crocodiles are famously difficult to spot in the wild (until it’s too late!), our crew know the local crocs well and where to find them.
Before long, the crew will tempt one of the crocodiles out by dangling an enticing chunk of meat out for a croc snack. The croc will have to work for it though! Employing the natural hunting techniques they use for catching birds, the croc will launch itself from the water with a power that will amaze you. Get your camera ready to capture this astonishing sight!
While cruising in search of more crocodiles, your guide will provide entertaining commentary to share all they know about Australia’s saltwater crocodiles and their habitat. Keep your eyes peeled for other birds and animals that also call the wetlands home.
After witnessing this fierce display of hunting prowess and appreciating the wetland scenery on the cruise, we’ll return to Darwin before lunchtime.
