Set on forty acres of stunning valley land, the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery is a beautiful pit stop on any Yarra Valley trip. Husband and wife duo, Ian & Leanne Neeland, opened the Chocolaterie filling their lifelong dream of creating sweet wonderlands the whole family can enjoy. Together they’ve opened Chocolateries in the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula and on the Great Ocean Road.

Chocolate and ice cream

Combining the expertise of European chocolatiers with the comfort of warm, friendly local staff, they have created a dessert oasis. Walk into a chocolate wonderland, where the walls are lined with delicious treats and you have a front row seat to view the chocolate makers in action. Watch as the chocolatiers craft stunning masterpieces, truly merging art, science and food to create visually spectacular chocolate delights.

No visit is complete without one of their famous hot chocolates. Choose from milk, dark, or white chocolate served with warm frothed milked, whisk in your liquid chocolate to create your perfect hot chocolate. Plan your visit ahead and attend their Hot Chocolate Festival. Over 30 hot chocolate flavours were on offer including some inspired by classic Aussie treats such as mint slice, violet crumble, and manuka honey.

Sit down for lunch or afternoon tea in their café. Their lunch and pizza menu has something to suit everyone, enjoy your meal in their al fresco dining area while you soak in the fresh air and warm Australian sun. All their deserts and pastries are made in house by their team of professional pastry chefs and are served with a decadent chocolate shot of your choosing.

On a hot day, stop by their Ice Creamery for a scoop of their house made ice-cream. Made from the freshest local ingredients, seasonal fruits and ethical dairy. Their cabinet features an ever-changing line up of flavours for you to explore.

Sustainability and events

When bringing their dream to life, Ian and Leanne wanted to ensure that generations to come will be able to enjoy chocolate. So, to ensure this they work with the Cocoa Horizons program to ensure that their cocoa is sourced from framers and communities that their beans are farmed in sustainable ways. They hope that their participation in the program will help to build as sustainable future for the chocolate industry.

The Yarra Valley Chocolaterie has a selection of events throughout the year featuring their regular menu items as well as never before seen specialities. Enjoy matcha-cherry, unicorn, and rum and raisin flavoured rocky road during their Rocky Road Festival. Each delight is inspired by rock history, from Crocodile Rock (mint) to Bohemian Raspberry. For something a bit fresher, head to their Strawberry Affair. Sourcing from local farmers as the berries come into season, Strawberry Affair is a week of celebration of the best pairing on Earth, strawberry and chocolate.
